MISU 2002
The Minimally Invasive Spine
Update 2002 aboard Royal Caribbean's ship Majesty of The Seas from
Miami, FL to Nassau, The Bahamas, February 15-18, 2002 was another
successful course. We wish to thank all of the participants, faculty and
commercial supporters that made this course come together. Without all of
your dedication to the continued pursuit of new, less-invasive surgical and
pain management techniques for our spine patients, we would not be able to
provide such cutting edge technology to help educate spine-related
physicians and surgeons with the latest medical procedures. The following
lectures and workshops were presented:
Lectures
-
Epidemiology of back pain & compensation legislation - Dr. Jeffrey
Katzell
-
Interventional diagnosis - Dr. Steve Levine

As with our past two
courses, the highlights were the close interactions with faculty and
participants in the hands-on workshops. Ideas and techniques were once
again exchanged among specialties from both the participants and the
faculty. We believe that because of these special educational experiences
the annual MISU course will continue to improve the
care and understanding of pain along with decreasing the use of standard,
open spinal surgery and replacing it with less invasive surgical procedures.
