Dr. Reuter is one of the few but growing spine surgeons in the United States who practices minimally invasive spine surgery and believes his pioneering work will one day be the standard for spine surgery.   Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery is a growing medical achievement that has increased benefits for patients, physicians and care providers. Most procedures can be done in outpatient day surgery facilities where patients go home within hours from operative start times. Recovery time has been markedly decreased and functional results are equal to, or better than conventional, open procedures. Physicians require less operative time which reduces risks to the patient and allows efficient and maximal operative scheduling. Care providers spend less money per minimally invasive procedures than for conventional surgeries.

The technology of tomorrow is indeed here today. The list of new techniques in minimally invasive spine surgery is growing rapidly. With outpatient surgical facilities also becoming the wave of the future, fellowship trained minimally invasive spine surgeons will be in great demand.

The one year minimally invasive spine surgery fellowship starts August 1st and continues through July of the next year. This fellowship has a hands-on approach with emphasis on minimally invasive spine procedures and pain management in the adult population. Training in the diagnosis and treatment of cervical, thoracic and lumbar pathology and their minimally invasive surgical procedures and pain management is emphasized.

This fellowship is open to Board eligible/Board certified orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons who have completed a certified residency in their specialty. As well, Board eligible/Board certified anesthesiologists who have completed a Pain Management Fellowship, are also welcome to apply.  Interviews are required.
