Merrill W. Reuter, MD PhD FACS

 

  Advanced Orthopaedics of South Florida has been taking care of patients with orthopaedic related problems since August 1992.  Dr. Merrill W. Reuter, as Medical Director, specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery as well as foot and ankle surgery.  Dr. Reuter received his Bachelor's degree in Biophysics from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1982.  In 1986 Dr. Reuter earned his medical degree from Brown University Program in Medicine and his Master's degree in Biomaterials from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island.  Dr. Reuter received his orthopaedic residency training at The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas, graduating in 1991. After his residency, Dr. Reuter pursued his first fellowship in Surgery of the Foot and Ankle at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, Texas and his second fellowship in Spinal and Reconstructive Surgery at the Spinal Associates of North Central Florida, Gainesville, Florida.  Subsequent to his many years of medical training, he opened the private practice of Advanced Orthopaedics of South Florida which includes a state of the art physical therapy facility utilitzing MedX.

 

  Dr. Reuter was one of the first spine surgeons in the state of Florida to undergo training for minimally invasive spine surgery.  Since 1999 he has been the Course Director of the Minimally Invasive Spine Update courses, training spine surgeons and related physicians.  Dr. Reuter has participated in FDA and non-FDA studies and has lectured world wide on his findings.  Dr. Reuter has been able to reduce operative time, costs and patient recovery times due to his minimally invasive techniques.  Dr. Reuter has been Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc. since 1996.  He is also Board Certified by The American Board of Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  In 2003 Dr. Reuter earned a Doctorate degree from the American International University Online Program in Surgical Research and a Master's degree in Chirurgie (surgery).  He is also a recipient of the American Medical Association's Physician's Recognition Award for acquiring above the required amount of continuing medical education credits.  Dr. Reuter is active in local, regional and national medical organizations and has authored numerous chapters, medical journal articles, posters and talks.  To read Dr. Reuter's CV, click here.  Problems opening the CV? Dannell B. Anschuetz, DO FACPS

 

  Dr. Dannell Anschuetz has been an integral part of Advanced Orthopaedics of South Florida since she completed our Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) Fellowship in September of 2005. Having graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1982 with a Zoology degree, Dr. Anschuetz attended graduate school at the University of Texas-Arlington in 1992.  In 1996 Dr. Anschuetz was awarded the Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine.  She then pursued a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, starting at Saint Frances General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for her internship.  Her second year she trained at  Pitt County Memorial Hospital - East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina where she graduated with Honors.  In  2000 Dr. Anschuetz graduated from residency training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.  After residency, Dr. Anschuetz worked in private practice in Norfolk and as a staff physician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Miami, Florida until she began her fellowship at Advanced Orthopaedics of South Florida.  Dr. Anschuetz is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Board Certified in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties.  She is also a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Osteopathic Association, Gamma Beta Phi - Honor Society and the Chem U Society.

 

Mark J. Metzger, DPM MS

 

  Dr. Mark Metzger is our full time podiatrist at Advanced Orthopaedics of South Florida.  Along with Dr. Reuter, he takes care of foot and ankle patients. Dr. Metzger received his Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida in 1992.  He received a Master's of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida in December, 1992.  In 1996 Dr. Metzger received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine, Miami Shores, Florida.  Dr. Metzger furthered his training at Wellington Regional Medical Center's Podiatric Surgical Residency Training Program in Wellington, Florida.  He graduated in 1998 and subsequently joined the AOSF team.  Dr. Metzger is Board Certified in Primary Care by the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry and an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
